Sumeja Ljevaković-Subašić delivered a paper at the International Conference “Central Europe and Balkan Muslims: Relations and Representations” 

2-3 October 2017, Sumeja Ljevaković-Subašić delivered a paper at the International Conference “Central Europe and Balkan Muslims: Relations and Representations”  organized  by the Institute of History and the Institute of Ethnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The conference brought together scientists from ten countries of Europe, including Dr. Zora Hesova, Dr. Clemens Ruthner, Dr. Drago Roksandić and others. It is interesting to talk about Bosnian Muslims in the Czech Republic since Islam was recognized as a religion in Czech Republic in 1912 by the “Law on Islam” adopted by Austro-Hungarian Empire after the annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sumeja Ljevaković Subašić  presented a paper on “Educational Policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina during Austro-Hungarian Rule with a Special Reference to Muslim Women’s Education”.

The director of the Institute at the conference: “Islam in Deutschland: Herausforderungen, Chancen und Perspektiven”

7th October 2017 – The director of the Institute spoke on the topic: “Bosniaken als auththon europäische Muslime. Ein Einblick in die islamische Tradition der Bosniaken“ at the conference: “Islam in Deutschland: Herausforderungen, Chancen und Perspektiven”. The conference was held in Wiesbaden, and it was organized by IGBD. Maja Jurčić from the Ministry of internal affairs in Germany and Michael Blume from Baden-Württemberg region, prof. dr. Ertugrul Sahin from University Frankfurt,  mr. Muhamed Jugo and mr. Muhamed Fazlović from the Islamic community in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Edin Atlagić from the Islamic community of Bosniaks in Germany also spoke at the conference.

6.9. – 11.9.2016. A group of students and professors from the Goethe University in Frankfurt were in Sarajevo where they took part in a Summer School titled “Religion and Society”. Dr. Dževada Šuško gave a lecture titled “Religion Policies in Austro-Hungary” and took part in a panel “The Freedom o Religion and the Head-Scarf Debates in B&H and Germany”. Researcher mr. Hikmet Karčić gave a lecture titled “Experiences of the Muslims in B&H during the War and Genocide and the Consequences on Identity and Religion”.
