22-24. 09. 2017. Mainz – Dr. Dževada Šuško held a series of lectures in Düsseldorf and Mainz in Germany. On Friday, 22nd September, IKC-Düsseldorf held a forum for women where dr. Šuško held a lecture  “The Hidden World of Balkan Women”. On September 23rd, she gave a lecture on women “Living Islam in Germany – The Role of the Bosniaks”, after which she held a workshop  “The Muslim Woman in Jamaica and Everyday Life in Germany”.  The organizers and participants rated the seminar very successful.

Sumeja Ljevaković-Subašić delivered a paper at the International Conference “Central Europe and Balkan Muslims: Relations and Representations” 

2-3 October 2017, Sumeja Ljevaković-Subašić delivered a paper at the International Conference “Central Europe and Balkan Muslims: Relations and Representations”  organized  by the Institute of History and the Institute of Ethnology of the Czech Academy of Sciences. The conference brought together scientists from ten countries of Europe, including Dr. Zora Hesova, Dr. Clemens Ruthner, Dr. Drago Roksandić and others. It is interesting to talk about Bosnian Muslims in the Czech Republic since Islam was recognized as a religion in Czech Republic in 1912 by the “Law on Islam” adopted by Austro-Hungarian Empire after the annexation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Sumeja Ljevaković Subašić  presented a paper on “Educational Policy in Bosnia and Herzegovina during Austro-Hungarian Rule with a Special Reference to Muslim Women’s Education”.

International conference “Religion, Minorities and Nationalities in Southeastern Europe 1900-1940” was held in Sarajevo

The University of Tübingen and the Institute of Islamic Tradition of Bosniaks have organized an International Conference: Religion, Minorities and Nationalities in Southeastern Europe 1900-1940. The conference was  held in Gazi Husrev-bey’s Library in Sarajevo 8-9 December 2017. This conference was supported by the Department of Culture and Media of the Federal Government of Germany. The conference brought together prominent experts in history of southeast Europe. Prof. Dr. Zijad Šehić, Dr. Adnan Jahić, Dr. Carl Bethke, Dr. Katrin Boeckh, Dr. Dževada Šuško and Dr. Tamara Scheer were some of the speakers at the conference.
